Institute for Social Science Research
The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) is a national leader in advanced interdisciplinary social science and evidence based policy research. ISSR researchers address some of the most important issues and challenges facing Australia today in areas such as education, employment, housing, social wellbeing, homelessness, policing and security, sustainability, and Indigenous studies. We currently manage a $42 million research portfolio, 85% of which we have generated through competitive research grants, contract research, consulting services and other commercial activities. The Institute's Innovation and Commercial Development group provides services to: foster research development and innovation; identify, protect and manage intellectual property; and develop collaborative links and negotiate agreements with industry (public and private) and funding agencies.

The role
The Engagement Officer will coordinate and implement a range of engagement activities to support the Institute's strategic goals for engaging stakeholders in our outstanding work. The incumbent will maintain key marketing systems and develop a suite of communication tools for digital marketing and social media campaigns, with substantive responsibility over Institute managed newsletters, websites, and social media accounts, to create timely, effective and relevant online communications. The position will research, source content, interview, edit, write and produce original material for a range of audiences (academic and non-academic) using various forms of media.
The role is based at The University of Queensland's Long Pocket precinct (off Meiers Road, Indooroopilly).
The person
We are looking for a "go-getter" and team player who enjoys reaching stakeholders through effective and interesting content and experiences. This role is for a person who can innovate within a dynamic environment while being responsible to a large corporate context.
Successful applicants will have exceptional communications skills, with the ability to create superior original content that is written with clarity, accuracy and precision for varying audiences. The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines while adapting to changing needs is essential. The ideal applicant will be proficient at integrated marketing and communications tactics and methods with experience in the digital space.
Applicants should possess a combination of qualifications in journalism, communication or related discipline with substantial experience in a similar role.
Remuneration
This is a two year full-time, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $79,498.69 - $86,950.63 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $93,013.46 - $101,732.24.a.).
