Job Details

An opportunity has arisen at the University of Auckland for a Research Ethics Advisor in the Research Office Post-Award Support Services Team to support the Human Participants Ethics Committee (UAHPEC) as well as researchers in preparing and submitting their ethics applications. A primary focus of this role is to provide timely, accurate advice to applicants, either directly from queries, or as part of outreach and training, to meet the aim of raising the first time approval rates of ethics applications.

This position is based at the University’s City Campus. In this role you will be responsible for building strong work relationships with faculty, the UAHPEC Chairs and Committee members, and with external agencies (such as Health and Disability Ethics Committees (HDECs) and the Health Research Council Ethics Committee (HRC EC)) to ensure there is a high level of support and advice from the Research Office.

To be effective in this role you will be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and have a talent for relationship management. You will need to develop and maintain strong peer-to-peer business relationships with key funders and counterparts at other key New Zealand universities.

You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; you will have a tolerance for ambiguity, and the ability to multitask in a high volume, deadline driven environment. Experience in an early-to-mid-career position in a large, complex organisation in the public or higher education sectors would be preferable and it would be an advantage to have a scientific background and tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.

If you are confident, results-focused and can work independently, we would love to hear from you.

Applications close: Sunday 7 August 2016
