Job Details
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Accountant to join our central financial accounting team.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for providing excellent stakeholder service to the University’s finance community in the areas of:
- monthly financial reporting;
- fixed asset accounting;
- annual reporting;
- forecasts;
- lease administration;
- development, maintenance and communication of finance policies and procedures;
- planning and implementation of special projects; and
- providing support to the Senior Financial Accountant and Assistant Accountant roles as required.
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a major in accounting;
- Working towards membership with a professional accounting institute (Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand or equivalent;
- Self-starter with a focus on process improvement;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Solution driven;
- Budgeting and forecasting;
- High standard of computer literacy with advanced Excel skills;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of accountancy best practice;
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to easily build relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
In addition, you will need to work well under pressure, show initiative and have a willing attitude to coach and support other members of the Finance team. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials is an advantage.
