DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the Cardiac Device Management Nurse is responsible for the interrogation, interpretation and programming of Pacemakers and Automatic Cardioverter Defibrillators (AICD) in the hospital/clinic setting. Performs monitoring, evaluation, and analysis of cardiac rhythms, both in person and from remote transmission. Evaluates patients to ensure proper follow-up of Pacemakers and AICD's. Reads and interprets pacing ECG's. Takes medical history, records vital signs, schedules patients and equipment maintenance, as required.

Oversees patients enrolled in remote monitoring, and reviews remote transmissions, downloads/enters data into device data management program, and reviews abnormal results with NP or EP per protocol. Performs phone triage of device related issues; urgent issues are addressed immediately and appropriately by the Cardiologist, EP, or NP and documented in EMR. Tracks implanted devices, leads, and serial numbers. Ensures transmissions are scheduled, read, and charged for appropriately. Serves as a resource re: all cardiac device related issues to other departments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• ACLS and/or ART at time of hire with commitment to get ART w/in 6 months of hire date.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years of RN experience working in cardiology/electrophysiology.
• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• BSN
• Experience with Cardiac Device Management

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
*Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
