The Graduate School of Education is seeking to appoint a new Lecturer in Education. The School is about to embark on an exciting venture with the launch of two brand new undergraduate programmes which will complement our high quality Initial Teacher Education, Masters, and Doctoral programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to take part in the curriculum design and implementation of a new portfolio at undergraduate level. The successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of our new and innovative BSc Education Studies, a research-informed interdisciplinary social sciences degree that will open in 2017/18.

The School is seeking to appoint an academic with recent experience of successfully delivering undergraduate studies in education, and with a keen interest in contributing to the programme’s development as an interdisciplinary social science degree.  The post-holder will make a significant contribution to the undergraduate teaching in the School, and contribute to developing a signature undergraduate pedagogy. The successful candidate will need a broad knowledge base in the field of education and depth in some areas, such as: sociology, cultural theory, philosophy, social history, comparative or international education.

The thriving research culture of the School will support your developing publications profile and research grant capture potential, and provide opportunities for you to teach across UG and PGT levels. We welcome applicants who have interests that complement our existing research strengths. Candidates who can clearly articulate how their research and teaching interrelate are of particular interest to us, as are those who bring methodological insights.

It is expected that interviews will take place in September with a view to taking up the post in January 2017 at the latest.

To discuss the role please contact Professor Justin Dillon, Head of School, Tel: 0117 3314341 or by email at Justin.Dillon@bristol.ac.uk.
