Job Details

Job Purpose:

To contribute to, and drive, the research agenda for the Department and the Faculty. Will also be responsible for student supervision as well as curriculum development, lecturing and research in the related field of expertise

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Doctoral degree in Optometry, Public Health, Epidemiology or related Health Science research field
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in higher education
  • A proven record of scientific research and publications
  • Successful supervision of postgraduate students in a relevant Health Science discipline

 

Recommendations: 

  • NRF rating
  • Establishment (or membership) of an institutional research unit;
  • Experience as Editor and/or Reviewer of academic/professional journal(s);
  • Visiting scholar/researcher at international institution;
  • Citations of candidate’s work;
  • Production of/contribution to technical reports and/or registration of patents;
  • Qualification/training in post-graduate supervision;
  • Research related qualification e.g. data analysis, ethics etc.;
  • Contribution to research capacity development;
  • Experience as chair and/or member of research committee
