The Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL) aims to provide a world-class business, economics and law education that opens minds and facilities possibilities for our students, alumni, staff and the broader community. The Faculty incorporates the Schools of Business, Economics and the TC Beirne School of Law based at the St Lucia campus.

The BEL Faculty offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs to approximately 9500 students which allow for a wide range of specialisations or concentrations, with a high degree of relevance to employers.

 

The role

The Media and Communications Manager supports the Faculty's priorities and strategy by planning, developing and managing media and communications strategies for the Faculty and its business units as well as the UQ Business School, School of Economics and TC Beirne School of Law.

The successful appointee will be responsible for a wide and varied mix of communications and content including research and production of news and media releases, speeches, plans and content for new programs, sponsorship proposals, and corporate, crisis management and fundraising communications. 

The position is within the Faculty Marketing and Communications Team and is the key liaison between the Faculty and UQ's central media team. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications and Marketing and supervises the Content Writer and Coordinator. 

 

The person

Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines and exceptional writing expertise with impeccable grammar, attention to detail and proven editing experience.

Extensive experience managing strategic corporate communications for an organisation will be required, with demonstrated ability to write engagingly for various target audiences across a variety of mediums including web, print, media releases, speeches and social media.

A high level of interpersonal and oral communication skills including the ability to interview and liaise with a wide range of individuals is required, along with a proven ability to pitch to the media and extensive media contacts.

 

Remuneration

This is a part-time, 4 days per week, continuing appointment at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $79,498 - $86,950 p.a. pro rata, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
