School of Health & Related Research
Location: Regent Court
The Design, Trials and Statistics (DTS) section, within the School of Health and Related Research is looking to recruit a Lecturer in Medical Statistics. You will join a creative, multidisciplinary team of 14 statisticians, contributing to course development and the delivery of statistics teaching on the following courses:
- Undergraduate medical degree (MBChB)
- Master of Public Health programme
- MSc Clinical Research
- MSc in Statistics with Medical Applications.
Requirements:
- We are looking for someone who can contribute to ScHARR’s research portfolio, building on your background and interests.
- You will take on a leadership role either as deputy course director or course director, depending on your skills and experience.
- With a real passion for statistics and applied research, you will share that enthusiasm and knowledge to create a rewarding student experience.
- We are seeking someone with exceptional interpersonal skills who will relate well to others in our team, establishing good working relationships across teaching and research.
- You will have a good working knowledge of statistics and basic statistical theory, and be eager and enthusiastic to learn.
- You will exhibit a positive, “can do” attitude to new activities knowing your strengths and skills whilst being flexible to change.
- You will need a PhD (or be near completion) in statistics or equivalent experience.
- A track record of recent undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in applied statistics is essential.
- Experience of participatory and student-centred teaching approaches is required.
- Proven experience of innovative curriculum development and implementation in multidisciplinary settings is desirable, as is experience of contributing to applications for external research monies.
- It is also essential that you have a proven record of publications in peer-reviewed professional journals.
