Applications are invited for the post of Senior Trial Manager. The post holder will be integral to the successful strategic development and management of the Bristol Randomised Trial Collaboration (BRTC) trials unit working closely with the two Co-Directors Drs Athene Lane and Chris Metcalfe. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the quality of trial management from the design to trial conduct across the BRTC portfolio of trials over a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas.


You will have extensive experience of managing trials in an academic or NHS setting. You will have experience of securing regulatory approvals and ensuring that research is conducted to UK and EU legal and ethical requirements. You will be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support chief investigators in designing BRTC-supported trials. You will work closely with academic, research and NHS staff, including Avon Primary Care Research Collaborative, using your knowledge and experience to complete finance and research governance sections of grant application forms. You will also have demonstrated experience of managing and developing the careers of trial staff.


The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, with evidence of an ability to manage competing demands/priorities sometimes to tight deadlines and influencing and negotiating skills. He/she will be hardworking, self-motivated, pro-active, innovative and be able to use initiative combined with a commitment to team-working. The candidate must have also have an interest in methodological and other developments in the UK trials landscape.
