Job Details
Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics (School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences)
The Centre for Organic Photonics and Electronics (COPE) draws together expertise from Chemistry and Physics in a combined facility (www.physics.uq.edu.au/cope). COPE has >20 senior research staff, postdoctoral fellows and research students and is housed in newly refurbished laboratories on the 9th Floor of the Chemistry building that include state-of-the-art synthesis and materials characterisation facilities; a Class 1000 clean room incorporating gloveboxes with integral evaporators for device fabrication; and prototype measurement capability. The laboratory is located on the St. Lucia campus, one of the most spacious and attractive university campuses in Australia. COPE is located within the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB), which combines the disciplines of Chemistry, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Parasitology into a single academic unit.
The Centre has extensive experimental and theoretical research programs in optoelectronic organic materials for organic light-emitting diodes, photovoltaics, photodiodes, organic field effect transistors, and organic chemosensors.
The role
We seek applications from suitably qualified candidates to design and synthesise light-emitting dendrimers for use in organic light-emitting diode-based solid-state lighting. In this context organic includes both all-organic and/or organometallic materials.
The person
The applicant should possess a PhD or post-doctoral experience in a relevant area of synthetic chemistry. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career and possess good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.
Remuneration
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Research Academic Level A or B, depending on the candidate's level of knowledge, skills and experience. The remuneration package will be in the range $79,170 – 84,985 p.a. for Research Academic Level A, or $89,458 – 106,232 p.a for Research Academic Level B, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
