TECHNICIAN: ELECTRONIC SERVICES

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 10

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be required to assist the Workshop Manager in carrying out maintenance responsibilities by attending to technical problems and other related issues in the allocated area of responsibility in accordance with the UP standards and the client’s specific needs while ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations.

To enable the Technician to achieve the objective he/she will need to attend to the following: 

  • Planned maintenance tasks allocated to him;
  • Demand maintenance task allocated to him;
  • Operate equipment in accordance with the University’s business requirements;
  • Manage the maintenance execution related to planned and breakdown maintenance.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A National Diploma (N6, T3, S3) in Electronic Engineering;
  • One years’ appropriate experience;
  • Product specific certification;
  • Valid driver’s licence.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Sound knowledge of the following:
    • Access control system;
    • CCTV systems;
    • Alarm systems;
    • Fire detection systems;
  • Appropriate language and communication skills;
  • Administrative skills to ensure that all records are kept in orderly fashion;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office.

 

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 289 721 to R 347 490 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
