Senior HR Partner

We are looking for an energetic, client-oriented professional to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.  This position is one of three that leads the HR Partnerships team.  The HR Partnership team focuses on building an effective institution-wide human resource community that fosters best practices and integrated, responsive, client-focused services. The Senior HR Partner leads a team of 4-5 HR professionals who provide direct strategic HR advice and leadership to campus faculties and departments, build and maintain effective relationships with staff associations, and act as the first point of contact to facilitate the effective use of central HR services. It also supports a small client portfolio in areas such as strategic human resources management, employee relations, issue management, recruitment, collective agreement interpretation, formal dispute management, and performance management.  The Senior HR Partner will participate in the development and facilitation of institution wide HR strategies, programs, policies, procedures and services.

 

To fill this position, we are seeking a professional who has the following:

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in HR or a related field
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years direct employee relations/human resource generalist experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
• Strong expertise in employee and labour relations, including contract interpretation, dispute resolution and performance management and human rights issues
• Previous supervisory experience is an asset
• Demonstrated excellence in internal HR consulting, strategic thinking and problem solving, along with strong organizational, communication and teamwork skills
• A CHRP designation and experience in a unionized environment

 

In accordance with the Sessional and Other Temporary Staff Agreement, this position has an end date of twelve months from the date of hire and offers a comprehensive benefits package (which can be viewed at www.hrs.ualberta.ca) and an annual salary of $73,619 - $122,068.
