Description
Merck & Co., Inc. Kenilworth, N.J., U.S.A. known as Merck in the United States and Canada, is a global health care leader with a diversified portfolio of prescription medicines, vaccines and animal health products. Today, we are building a new kind of healthcare company – one that is ready to help create a healthier future for all of us.

The Scientist’s primary responsibility is the participation in and data analysis from large scale sequencing projects in selected population cohorts, integration of sequencing data with results from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and Mendelian Randomization in the neuroscience therapeutic area. A chief aim is the discovery and validation of promising genetic targets that will enter the drug discovery pipeline within Early Development and Discovery Sciences (EDDS) of Merck & Co, and so the scientist will initiate functional validation studies in collaboration with experimental biologists and clinical researchers based on analysis results. The Scientist will have a role at the critical interface between genetic discovery, functional biology and experimental medicine. Given the multi-disciplinary nature of the position, not only a deep understanding of population genetics and biostatistics, but also very strong collaboration and communication skills are required.
