Assistant Professor, Landscape Architecture Program

The landscape architecture program in the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (SALA) at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor effective July 1, 2017.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sustained inquiry about contemporary issues in the discipline and will pursue a related area of research, scholarship and/or creative practice, and teaching. A commitment to quality design teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and in-depth knowledge and skill in digital representation is essential. Teaching responsibilities will include design studios and courses in the professional, post-professional, and undergraduate SALA programs, as well as supervision of graduate students. Previous teaching experience is required. Candidates must hold a Master of Landscape Architecture. A PhD in Landscape Architecture or a closely related discipline is desirable.

The search will be two-stage process. Interested applicants should first submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of interest, and three images representative of their work. Those applicants who the Search Committee consider to most closely meet the requirements of the position will be invited to provide additional information that includes a concise research plan, a portfolio of work (including creative work and writing samples), a teaching portfolio, and three references. Applicants to faculty positions at UBC Applied Science are also asked to complete an equity survey. Participation in the survey is voluntary and anonymous.
