Clinical Nurse Coordinator, General Surgery

The Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Clinical Nurse Coordinator, General Surgery Service Line. 

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to: 

• ensure optimization of patient condition prior to major surgery
• conduct thorough assessment for all those patients who have been planned to undergo a procedure requiring anesthesia
• assess patient / families health education needs and intervene accordingly
• assess patients’ ASA level, refer patients with ASA III and beyond to the anesthesia clinic
• plan further management of a patient i.e. timing of next clinical review / investigations/ referral
• liaise with other healthcare professionals regarding patient appointments for consultations and progress
• follow-up with patient and healthcare team members after each consultation of referred patients
• provide accurate and timely correspondence to primary physician, anesthetist and other relevant health care professionals regarding the outcome of consultations and any necessary follow-up required
• interprets clinical findings and investigation results; x-rays, blood tests, in order that the consultant / medical staff are fully appraised of findings to allow relevant intervention if required.

 

Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BScN) from an accredited school
• valid license from Pakistan Nursing Council
• minimum two years of experience as a clinical nurse or equivalent
• experience of working in Surgical Units/Anesthesia/Operating Room/Recovery Room will be preferred
• certification in Basic Life Support, safe medication administration, I/V cannulation, conscious sedation and ACLS
• excellent interpersonal skills
