Job Details
Job Purpose
The post holder is expected to contribute to the achievement of the Schools research strategy by developing and then undertaking novel research activities within the Modelling Industrial Cleaning Processes research programme. The aim of this project is to use chemical engineering principles to model large scale cleaning operations. The work will be done in collaboration with P&G and the candidate will be based in P&Gs Innovation Centre in Newcastle.
Person Specification
- • A good first degree in a relevant subject (Chemical Engineering or Physical Sciences, etc.).
- • Achieved (or be close to achieving) a PhD in a relevant subject, ideally in the field of process modelling etc.
- • Proven track record in a relevant research area (e.g. process modelling, process optimisation).
- • Demonstrable history of using innovation and invention in research.
- • Sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and/or research methods and techniques to establish new research programmes.
- • Have a strong scientific vision and creativity.
Desirable:
- • In depth knowledge of industrial manufacturing practices and processes will be beneficial.
- • Experience in collaborating with national and international industrial and academic partners would be advantageous.
- • Experience of other related areas of food processing and production (e.g. experience in measurements of food rheology and surface/interfacial tension).
- • Experience in the supervision of PhD/EngD students would be an advantage.
