The Department of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) is seeking candidates for the Division Chief in Pediatric Rheumatology. The division has strong multidisciplinary rheumatology clinics, an ethnically diverse population and is the only American Board of Pediatrics accredited Rheumatology Fellowship Program in the New York City region. The Einstein Lupus Cohort, a large database and serum/urine/DNA/tissue biorepository of more than 400 lupus patients seen within the Einstein/Montefiore system, is co-managed with the adult rheumatology division, and is an outstanding resource for research. In addition to its large clinical programs, the adult and pediatric Rheumatology divisions at Einstein have a strong basic, translational, and clinical research portfolio spearheaded by physician scientists.

Nestled between Manhattan and Westchester County, CHAM is a premier academic children’s hospital, nationally renowned for its clinical excellence, innovative research and commitment to training the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists. CHAM cares for over 9,000 hospitalized children annually including 1,100 in the 26 bed state-of-the-art Pediatric Critical Care Unit.  CHAM has one of the busiest pediatric ambulatory programs in the country; nearly 200,000 children receive treatment in our pediatric emergency department, outpatient clinics, school health program and through Montefiore’s innovative community outreach initiatives.

We seek a strong leader with a track record of extramural funding and mentorship to lead this division. Appointment on the Investigator (tenure) track, academic rank and start up package for research programs and expansion of the division will be commensurate with experience, research focus and vision of the selected candidate. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree, have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center are equal opportunity employers. Candidates from minorities underrepresented in medicine and science, women and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Please send cover letter and CV to the search committee chair, Betsy Herold betsy.herold@einstein.yu.edu
