The Supply Consultant is responsible for the management of procurement processes for goods and services which includes managing transactions such as contracts, purchase orders, competitive bids and preferred supplier agreements.

 

Duties

  • Issues Purchase Orders and Agreements for goods and service
  • Reviews purchasing transactions and consolidating requirements into appropriate purchasing methods (i.e. Corporate Purchasing Card, Preferred Supplier Agreements, Low Dollar Purchase System or Standing Order)
  • Provides consultation and direction on contracting for services; issues and manages processes for contracting with individuals or unincorporated businesses
  • Handles client and supplier relations and supports the Senior Supply Consultants, Specialists and Managers
  • Responds to clients and supplier inquiries; provides clarification & answers inquiries on competitive bids and/or purchase order processes
  • Effectively and efficiently resolves problems and issues with suppliers and University clients to ensure contract requirements and performance standards are met
  • Cultivates strong working relationships with suppliers and clients
  • Oversees Preferred Supplier Agreements including reviewing activities and ensuring monthly reports are updated
  • Provides guidance and information on policies and procedures
  • Assists in resolving client/vendor issues; assists clients with PeopleSoft inquiries
  • Responds to client and supplier inquiries
  • Performs other related duties as required

 

Qualifications

  • A certificate in supply chain management or related business program preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • 2 years experience in a supply management and purchasing environment
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Membership and participation in a supply chain management program
  • Knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures, tendering law and trade agreements
