Job Details

Job Purpose The post-holder will work within the groups of Profs Adam Cunningham and Steve Watson with specific responsibility for delivering the aims and objectives of the MRC funded project entitled: “How does inflammation regulate CLEC-2-mediated thrombosis after infection?”

The focus of the project will be to understand how we can understand and exploit a novel mechanism of thrombosis that we have identified after infection of mice with Salmonella. In this situation, platelets in the blood become activated via CLEC-2. We wish to identify how thrombosis can be beneficial and deleterious for the host. To do this we will use a number of established models to interrogate how the innate and adaptive systems contribute to the regulation, expansion and resolution of thrombosis. Person Specification
