The Research Office

The Research Office is a strategic service delivery provider (to Senior Management Team, faculties, Large Scale Research Institutes, schools and academic departments, researchers and administrators) with delegated oversight for: upholding the University's research strategy; developing and supplying methodologies for tactical engagement with funders; oversight and governance of policies to support research and related activities; outward facing responsibilities and accountability to funders and regulatory bodies; translation of external and cross-university intelligence; and enforcement of legislative and regulatory research related requirements internally; thereby enabling the University to execute key actions and milestones to meet the objectives of the University’s Strategic Plan 2013 to 2020.

An opportunity has arisen at the University of Auckland for a Funds Advisor in the Research Office Pre-Award Support Services Team. The primary focus of this role is to plan and coordinate activities for key research funding rounds and campaigns, including providing advice to researchers to support them in creating high quality proposals that meet funder interests and requirements.

This position is based at the University’s City Campus. In this role you will be responsible for coordinating support contributions from across the Research Office and the broader University, identifying and being the key point of contact for external suppliers where required. This will include supporting the University’s fund-specific steering committees and working groups, as well as facilitating a range of workshops, mock panels and other similar initiatives as required.

To be effective in this role you will be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and have a talent for relationship management. You will need to develop and maintain strong peer-to-peer business relationships with key funders and counterparts at other key New Zealand universities.

You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; you will have a tolerance for ambiguity, and the ability to multitask in a high volume deadline driven environment. At least five years in an early-to-mid-career position in a large, complex organisation - preferably in the public or higher education sectors - is essential and it would be an advantage to have a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.

This is a Professional Staff Permanent (Full Time) position.

If you are confident, results-focused and can work independently, we would love to hear from you.

The University has an equity policy and welcomes applications from all qualified persons.

The University is committed to meeting its obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi and achieving equity outcomes for staff and students.

Applications close: Sunday 4th of September 2016 (NZST)
