Faculty of Science - School of Biological Sciences

The School of Biological Sciences at The University of Auckland are seeking a highly motivated and capable laboratory and field technician to provide undergraduate teaching and research support to the City Campus and Field Trip Activity areas. As part of the Ecology, Evolution and Behavioural group you will take on a varied role supporting undergraduate teaching and a research laboratories at City Campus.

The role also requires the support of Field Trip activities including administration and preparation of Field Trips and conducting undergraduate teaching courses linked to Field Trip activities. 

Applicants should have an Ecology background with an MSc in Ecology, Marine or related fields.  SCUBA diving qualifications to at least Advanced Open Water, with enough logged  dives to promptly complete a Rescue Diver qualification are required. Rescue Diver or Scientific SCUBA Diving qualification (ADAS recognized Restricted Part 1 or equivalent) and a   Boat Masters License are preferred.

Laboratory and field trip research experience would be an advantage with experience in conducting field trips being very beneficial. 

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching, research laboratory management and planning of experiments and field trips. An ability to plan, organize, multitask, prioritize work demands and to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills are essential requirements for this position.

 

This position is a professional level 5 role.
