The role

The successful appointee will support research investigating the pharmacokinetics and activity of chemotherapeutic nanomedicines in preclinical small animal models of cancer. They will be responsible for all aspects of the work from surgical implantation of catheters to sample collection and analysis via radiometric techniques, HPLC and in vivo and in vitro imaging. They will also be responsible for maintaining the laboratory, maintaining compliance with occupational health and safety and overseeing work undertaken by more junior members of the laboratory.

The person

The ideal candidate will possess an Honours degree in pharmaceutics, pharmacology or a related discipline or a veterinary qualification. You will need to have excellent rodent handling skills and experience with surgery or dissections, cell culture and a knowledge of pharmacokinetics. Applicants with additional skills/experience in HPLC, biochemical analyses, in vitro and/or in vivo imaging techniques and cancer models will be highly regarded.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term 12 month appointment at HEW Level 5 or 6 (depending on qualifications and experience). The remuneration package will be in the range $62,716.31 - $70,241.69 p.a. for HEW 5 or $72,045.70 - $77,635.44 p.a. for HEW 6, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $73,378.08 - $82,182.77 p.a. HEW 5 or $84,293.46 - $90,833.46 HEW 6).
