Minimum Requirements:

  • The Minimum requirement is a Master’s degree.
  • Five (5) years teaching experience in higher education and 6 years relevant experience in quality assurance in higher education.


Essential capabilities:

  • Developed interpersonal and communication skills: developed ICT skills: ability to write clearly, effectively and persuasively: Manage multiple work streams: aptitude for harnessing the potential of technology: ability to think flexibly, innovatively and analytically: experience with programme review and evaluation.
  • Consideration may be given to candidates who are currently registered for a Master’s degree, have extensive experience in quality assurance in higher education, specifically in relation to programme review planning, managing and implementation. Such experience must be validated by way of evidence as well as referees’ reports.


Quality Specialist: Programme Review and Evaluation

  • Summary: The main function of the post is to lead one or more policy areas in quality enhancement, academic standards and quality assurance.
  • Main areas of responsibility include: programme monitoring, review and evaluations and engagement with professional bodies.


Summary of Duties:

  • Help maintain and develop the University‘s Quality Assurance Framework and Policy in response to ongoing development of the quality agenda at a national level.
  • Help build and maintain active, sustainable and positive working relationships internally with Faculties and support departments, as well as externally with the CHE, professional bodies, etc.
  • Take primary responsibility for programme monitoring, review and evaluation and all related processes such as thematic reviews.
  • Develop strategies and implementation plans for capacity building activities related to areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in projects specifically with regard to quality assurance of graduates attributes.
  • Ensure that appropriate document management systems are maintained and developed for all areas of work.
  • Remain abreast of national and international developments and approached to academic quality.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and problem solving support to faculties and other departments where relevant.
  • Participate in designated committees and working group.
  • Support the Director: CQPA and work as a member of the team.


Salary: R278700 to R466512 p.a, plus benefits
