The BITMAP Innovative Training Network, funded by the European Commission under the H2020 research programme, is seeking a Research Fellow (undertaking PhD) in “Brain injury and trauma monitoring using advanced photonics”.
Salary: according to EU standards for Early Stage Researchers.
Hours: Full-time
Contract duration: 36 months

“BitMap: Brain injury and trauma monitoring using advanced photonics”, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) is looking for a Research Fellow to undertake PhD studies, to join us in early 2016. The posts are available on the basis of a 36-month full-time contract.

The main focus of this network is on the application of diffuse optical methods in monitoring brain injury and trauma. You will be part of an international team working collectively on all the major state-of-the-art optical imaging methods applicable for these problems, in research institutions, hospitals and companies in six European countries. As part of the ITN network, you will have access to the various training activities organized by the network and to secondments at partner institutions.

Project Title: Computational models for Near Infrared Imaging
Objectives:
To develop algorithms and computational tools to all real-time analysis for DCS and TRS data
To develop and create a library of anatomical models to allow fast model creation
To investigate the use of Model/patient registration methods for more accurate representation of patient in model based reconstruction/analysis
Report of all real-time imaging and analysis tools developed in NIRFAST

Funding Notes

ITN Mobility Rule: You must not have resided or carried out your main activity in UK for more than 12 months in the last 3 years. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
Early-Stage Researcher: You shall be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of your research career and must not yet have been awarded a doctoral degree.
