The Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland is the largest and most highly ranked science faculty in New Zealand. The Department of Statistics is the largest Statistics department in Australia and New Zealand and the birthplace of the R project, which is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. The department teaches a full range of courses and covers a broad spectrum of statistical research areas. We also offer a consulting service either on a fee paying service or retainer basis to internal and external clients.
 
The department is seeking to appoint a highly organised, energetic and collegial person for the role of Professional Teaching Fellow. The successful candidate will join the team responsible for the organisation and delivery of first year courses in statistics. Duties may include teaching other courses in the department. 

The department has a reputation for and commitment to teaching excellence. You will be encouraged to develop content and materials, to investigate novel strategies and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement, and to support diverse styles of teaching and learning and delivery of high quality course materials.

You will have a postgraduate degree in statistics or a closely related subject.  You will also have superb teaching skills and experience of using statistical techniques, either in research or consulting with a significant component of statistics.
