We are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Associate to work on a study exploring where and how common cause can be made between change agents in universities and communities to create an Arts and Humanities knowledge base that fully reflects the cultures and experiences of the UK’s BAME communities.

The successful candidate will have the capacity to work creatively and collaboratively with a range of partners from diverse backgrounds and communities, both within and outside the academy, as well as a strong commitment to the aims of the project. They will have both excellent personal and organisational skills as well as a thorough understanding of the relevant research literature. The SRA will be expected to 1. Produce a summary review of the literature on university-community collaborations specifically as it relates to partnership with BAME cultural and civic research organisations; 2. Conduct interviews and design and facilitate workshops across the UK with university and community partners 3. Manage web and social media communications about the project 4. Synthesise and analyse data to work with the project team to produce academic publications 5. Build strong working relationships with partners across University and Community sectors.

Experience of negotiating access to research sites, establishing ethical working relationships and building good relationships with research partners from BAME communities and independently collating, analyzing and synthesizing large amounts of qualitative data from multiple sources is highly desirable. The post is supervised by Professor Keri Facer (keri.facer@bristol.ac.uk) in collaboration with the project leadership team – Professor Karen Salt, Professor Charles Forsdick, David Bryan and Omar Kahn (Runnymede Trust).

The post is offered on an open ended, full-time basis (1.0 FTE) with fixed funding for 17 months and will be based in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Bristol.
