Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Enrolment Management & Reporting, the Research & Enrolment Analyst plays an integral role by providing critical analysis and interpretation of enrolment data for strategic planning within the Office of the Registrar (RO) at the University of Alberta.

Duties

  • Generates, analyzes and reports data for enrolment projection/forecasting
  • Conducts research to provide insight for strategic planning; this often involves data sources both internal and external to the university involving Advancement Services, Dean of Students, government agencies such as Apply Alberta or other educational institutions
  • Provides information and advice based on statistical and trend analysis on issues areas, such as the effect of admission initiatives, standards, and requirements on student performance; environmental scanning will also be required
  • Monitors the effects of initiatives and measures the statistical impacts of enrolment policies on enrolment, student population and student success
  • Carries out the necessary analysis especially statistical, but also qualitative where appropriate, to explore and highlight nuances in key issues to provide answers to questions or develop positions
  • Develops and maintains predictive models to ensure business leads within the Registrar's Office and the Campus Community have relevant input for planning
  • Contributes to, assess and makes recommendations to achieve consistency for data analysis conducted by Faculties and Departments of the University
  • Reviews resulting data compilations and reports to identify insights of significance to the University as well as any questions of validity and reliability
  • Takes the lead in identifying issues and providing direction with respect to the creation and sharing of enrolment reports and projections, including suggesting and explaining analytical methodologies to the Registrar’s executive team
  • Responds to inquiries with evidence-based analysis to provide answers to questions from faculties and department’s administrative units, and RO executive team
  • Keeps relevant analysis and reports up-to-date for immediate reference by the University and RO senior executive officers, planning and presentation units, and external partners
  • Ensures that regular and ad hoc reports are meeting the needs of the RO and the campus partners it serves


Qualifications

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Economics or Statistics with excellent knowledge of statistical research and analytical methods; an advanced degree would be preferable; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • 2 to 4 years of experience conducting research and analysis (including literature review, quantitative modeling, statistical analysis, regression and report writing) that provides answers to critical questions within tight time limits
  • Experience with collecting, processing and reporting qualitative and quantitative data
  • Demonstrated experience with computer software and statistical programs
  • Superior ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and with data specialists in other units and to provide leadership in information gathering and analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills for consultation and reporting
  • Excellent time management skills in order to balance demands in a way that will ensure access to critical data, reports or analysis within strategic time limits, including ability to provide accurate preliminary estimates of project time expectations
