Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation
The Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI) is a unique research institute in Australia as it is a jointly funded initiative of UQ and Agri-Science Queensland and Biosecurity Queensland, part of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF). QAAFI conducts research and development to benefit the food and fibre sector both nationally and internationally.
The Institute's strengths are reflected in its three research centres – the Centre for Plant Science, the Centre for Animal Science and the Centre for Nutrition and Food Sciences. QAAFI brings together scientists from UQ and DAF to conduct high-end science that delivers higher impact outcomes for industry and the community.
QAAFI offers postgraduate programs in the disciplines of Plant, Animal and Food sciences internally and externally and provides professional training to both Australian and international students.
The role
The successful appointee will be based at the University of Queensland Facility in Gatton. You will manage all research activities in a GRDC-funded project on "Weed Biology of Key Weed Species" with minimum supervision. The project will deliver new knowledge on the biology of emerging weeds in the northern region of Australia. You will be responsible for preparing progress reports and articles for bulletin, brochure, and journals. This position is within the Centre for Plant Science.
The person
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Weed Science or Agronomy. You should have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in the area of weed science and management. You should have the ability to establish effective relationships at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies. You should have very good writing ability, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.

Remuneration
This is a full-time, 3 year fixed term appointment at Academic Research Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $79,170.68 - $84,985.56 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range of $92,629.70 - $99,433.10 p.a.).
