The Wessex Institute is an enterprise unit within the University of Southampton, situated at the University of Southampton’s Science Park, Chilworth.

The Wessex Institute is focused on providing high-quality, practice-based research evidence to support decision makers in health and social care. We offer a broad range of scientific and clinical expertise in added-value health research, research management and in health technology assessment. Our teams also comprise health research administrators, specialists in information management, finance, contracting, public and patient involvement and communications.

We currently have two exciting administration opportunities:

Administrator - Health and Care Research Wales Grant Administration Team (Full-Time, 12 month Fixed Term Contract)

A vacancy has arisen for an Administrator for the Health and Care Research Wales Grant Administration Team.  We are responsible for organising and ensuring the successful delivery of various grant funding meetings held in Cardiff.  Health and Care Research Wales runs calls for research on an annual basis.  Researchers are invited to submit applications for funding, which are then assessed.

 As Administrator you will provide clerical, secretarial and administrative support to the Health and Care Research Wales team.  You will be capable of prioritising your own workload and using initiative to adapt and refine working practices.  You must be able to understand and rationalise problems and determine appropriate action.  With relevant administrative experience and good organisational skills you will be able to multi-task.  You will be familiar with the use of MS Outlook, Internet and MS Office.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Administrator - Health Technology Assessment (Full-Time, Permanent)

We are looking for an individual with strong administrative and organisational skills to join an existing team managing the delivery of funding boards for the Health Technology Assessment Programme.

The successful applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be well organised with the ability to multi-task and work well as part of a team. Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload effectively are essential. It is important to be able to work independently, and with close attention to detail. A calm and courteous manner when dealing with members of the public and academic community is expected. Up to date knowledge of Microsoft Office Suit, in particular Outlook, Word and Excel, is essential.

Some experience of working in a customer-focused environment and providing effective and efficient administrative support, identifying and resolving critical issues on behalf of senior colleagues is desirable.
