As part of a strategic growth plan, the University of Stellenbosch Business School (which falls under the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences) is seeking to recruit a Head of Marketing for the Marketing Division at USB. The School has succeeded in establishing itself as one of the top providers of internationally accredited programmes in South Africa. The School enjoys the status of AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA international accreditations - reserved for only a few schools in the world.
The post is at a senior level and the incumbent will report to the Director of the Business School and serve on the Management Committee of USB. The incumbent is responsible for the overall marketing function of the Business School and related entities. Key responsibilities include: Strategic management, governance, integrated planning, budgeting, human resource management and reporting.
Duties:
- Managing the Marketing Division - overarching governance, policies, risks, integrated planning, budget, and human resource management;
- Creating a centre of excellence and establishing a marketing philosophy within USB aligned with USB's mission, vision and core values;
- Building and enhancing USB's brand reputation and brand awareness;
- Communicating and integrating with USB Executive development (USB-ED), Institute for Futures Research (IFR) and Stellenbosch University (SU) goals;
- Directing corporate brand engagement programmes and marketing campaigns per academic programme to deliver sales and growth targets;
- Conducting and commissioning relevant research on local and international market trends and reporting to MANCO;
- Developing excellent client service and relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni;
- Developing and reporting on core metrics.
Job Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualification, or Master's degree in Marketing or Business Management;
- Minimum of eight years' marketing management experience;
- Minimum five years' managerial experience;
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of marketing strategy to achieve organisational objectives;
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, customers and market requirements;
- Strong business management and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation and with external stakeholders;
- Highly organised and analytical;
- Must possess the following core values: integrity, innovation, excellence, and respect.
Recommendation:
- Knowledge of South African higher education market as well as the rest of Africa.
