New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor in Physical therapy to begin September, 2017. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Physical therapy.

NYU Steinhardt has one-of-a-kind integration of education, communication, health, and the arts, with eleven departments, seventeen research centers and institutes, 292 full-time faculty and close to six thousand students. The Department of Physical Therapy is a pioneer in physical therapy clinical and research education and is home to the Department’s Arthur J. Nelson Human Performance Research Laboratory. The Department has a top-ranked DPT program, the first PT PhD program, an advanced post-professional master’s degree program in pathokinesiology, a DPT for Practicing Physical Therapists, and a clinical residency program in orthopedics.

Position Description: Position is open to a faculty member dedicated to advancing physical therapy through teaching and practice. The field of specialization for this position is open.

Responsibilities: Teach and advise master’s and doctoral students; assume a leadership role in the department’s clinical education programs; engage in administrative responsibilities related to clinical education and other departmental activities; participate in faculty meetings, serve on committees, and provide other service to the University.

Qualifications: Physical therapist eligible for New York State physical therapy licensure with a clinical or academic doctoral degree.  Specialty certification is desired. The candidate must have clinical and teaching experience and be prepared to instruct students in the areas of exercise physiology, fitness theory, and physiology of the cardiovascular/pulmonary systems or anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system. Administrative skills are also required.
