Job Details

The University of Bristol is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive individual who has experience and understanding of academic study skills, ideally within a higher education context. The Academic Study Skills Coordinator will be responsible for contributing to the writing of academic study skills content (informed by good pedagogical knowledge and practice for online and face-to-face delivery), and producing, designing and delivering skills training. Working closely with colleagues in Library, Centre for English Language and Foundation Studies (CELFS), the Strategic Projects Office, Library Services, Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), Bristol Students Union, students, academics and others, the Co-ordinator will co-produce and coordinate a programme of skills deliverables that will closely synchronise with the student educational cycle. The post holder will be responsible for the guidance, training and supervision of student peer-to-peer assistants who will carry out peer-to-peer skills support. They will generate student feedback for the purpose of evaluation and will write reports on formal sessions/workshops delivered.

The post-holder will be line-managed within the Library Service and will report to the University Academic Study Skills Developer, but will work in a matrix across student-facing Professional Services and academic leadership. An ability to engage and inspire students and to promote the value of academic study skills is essential to the success of this post. With a new University Strategy, it’s an exciting time to join Bristol and contribute to the excellence in education. The academic study skills pilot forms part of a wide-scale curriculum development initiative called Bristol Futures.

The post fixed term for two years.
