The Research Assistant is part of a research team for the Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network – Data Presentation Tool (CPCSSN-DPT) implementation project. The CPCSSN Data Presentation Tool (DPT) is a technological innovation which forms the basis of this project. The DPT provides users with ready access to cleaned CPCSSN data derived from electronic medical records which users can use to obtain valid information about their own practices and patient panel.
 

Duties

  • Contacts clinics to see if they are interested in the web-based CPCSSN-DPT
  • Consents participating clinics and clinic superusers (the main user of the DPT in the clinic and who uses it to access clinic-wide data)
  • Runs a CPCSSN-DPT demo on prospective clinics to illustrate how the DPT works
  • Ensures confidentiality and information privacy agreements are in place
  • Arranges training sessions with superusers
  • Communicates with the team about recruited clinics
  • Troubleshoots by conducting searches on the clinic-specific CPCSSN-DPT prior to implementation in clinics to help identify any issues that might arise prior to training the superusers (e.g. missing data, slow processing etc.)
  • Responds to questions and concerns about the DPT via phone, follow-up visit or email from participating sites
  • Administers and conducts interviews and questionnaires related to the DPT implementation project
  • Performs data entry from interviews and questionnaires
  • Attends project meetings as required
  • Communicates with project research team members and assists the Research Coordinator with achievements of desired project timelines and milestones
  • Understands and adheres to the study protocol and procedures
  • Performs administrative and other project related duties as required


Qualifications

  • Minimum completion of post-secondary education, preferably in the Health Sciences
  • Previous experience with telephone interviewing is an asset
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability and willingness to learn new programs
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean driving abstract
