Job Purpose:
  • An individual who can teach at NQF 5 to NQF 7 level in Business Information Systems and Financial Information Systems
  • To develop into a research supervisor at Masters level


Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A relevant Masters degree in Financial Information systems with underpinning knowledge of a wide range of Accountancy software
  • At least two (2) years' relevant experience


Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

  • Teaching and Learning: Teach first to forth year Business Information Systems and Financial Information Systems
  • Supervision: Supervise integrated projects and research projects at NQF 6 level and 7 level
  • Accreditation: Adhere to Council of Higher Education accreditation policy and procedures
  • Academic Development: Identify students at risk timeously and develop intervention strategy
  • Academic Management: Set annual objectives pertaining to academic subjects and review teaching and learning practices
  • Administration: Assist with the registration of students. Administer student attendance register, assessment records and upload learners' results. Examine and moderate assessments and examinations. Report progress on the syllabus developments
  • Community Service & Outreach: Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into curriculum
  • Counseling: Provide counseling and mentoring to learners
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to Quality Assurance through committee meetings and submission of relevant documents. Monitor the impact of QA recommendations within the department and implement appropriate interventions
  • Recruitment/Admissions/Marketing: Contribute to the planning for "Open Day" and attend "Open Day"
  • Personal/Professional Development: Keep abreast with developments in the field of study and their implications for curriculum. Keep abreast with developments of professional conduct within the University. Register as a member of professional bodies to keep abreast of all developments. Engage in current professional developments activities
  • Human Resources Management: Adhere to University performance management system and identify training needs for career development
  • Industry Advisory Board and Partnerships: Liaise with commerce and industry on Experiential Training, new techniques/technologies and research projects
  • Research: Conduct research, supervise and lecture post graduate students as well as publish academic journal articles in accredited journals. Keep abreast with new developments in the accountancy profession
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with University health and safety rules and regulations
  • Other: Compile subject guides in compliance with University rules. Use appropriate teaching methods, practices and technologies. Develop learning materials for students. Assist students with problems in learning situation and appointment of tutors/mentors.


Workload allocation may change according to departmental/faculty needs as determined by the Head of Department
