Provision of academic leadership, management and administration of the academic department concerned
The Teacher Education programme at our Wellington Campus is taught in Afrikaans. Except for lecturers who teach languages other than Afrikaans, lecturers need to be able to teach/lecture in Afrikaans
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements: Associate Professor
- A relevant doctoral degree in the education field of SP and FET
- At least 6 years’ relevant teaching experience in Higher Education
- A relevant teaching qualification
- Ability and/or Qualification to teach at least one subject/learning area in the relevant Department (NB: The language of teaching and learning for undergraduate studies at Wellington is Afrikaans, therefore competence in Afrikaans language is required)
- Record of research outputs: Publications in peer-reviewed accredited journals; presentation of papers at professional conferences; postgraduate students supervised to completion relevant to the Education field
- Recipient of research grants and awards
- Experience as external examiner/ moderator
- Experience in curriculum development
- Evidence of recognition as leader/high stature in the field nationally and/or internationally
- At least three (3) years' proven academic managerial experience
- Proven/evidence of leadership qualities
Recommendations: Associate Professor
- NRF rating
- Should already be at Senior lecturer level
- High standing nationally in the relevant band (SP and FET)
- Experience in evaluating teaching practice
- Access to a car to visit schools during teaching practice
