The Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. Position Overview:
As a postdoctoral fellow in the Separations & High Throughput Analysis group within Process Research & Development you will work interactively with a highly collaborative team of scientists from the Analytical Separations, Mass Spectrometry, NMR, Process Research, Discovery and Informatics areas to conceive, design, and perform experiments aimed at the comparative evaluation of different technologies for improved rapid quantitation of unknown compounds at very small scale.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Extensive, hands-on utilization of HPLC-MS, SFC-MS instrumentation as well as alternate detectors such as CAD and CD.
- Modification and design of laboratory equipment
- Use of automation and robotics platforms
- Data interpretation, manuscript preparation, publication and presentation of results
Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Natural Products Chemistry or a related discipline with 3 years or less of postdoctoral experience or met all requirements of a PhD by May 2017
Required Experience and Skills:
- Hands-on experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry
- Excellent mechanical skills in the laboratory
- Innovative, creative, industrious and highly motivated
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Thorough understanding of chromatographic and mass spectrometry theory
- Strong history of publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience with QSQR modeling, electrochemistry, ICP-MS, laboratory automation or microlithography and microfluidics
