The Merck Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. Position Overview:
As a postdoctoral fellow in the Process Research and Development (PR&D) department you will work with an industry leading collaborative team of scientists with state of the art equipment and instrumentation to develop innovative preparative chromatography methodologies for the improved separation and purification of complex compound mixtures and help to drive scientific excellence in this field.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Explore and develop innovative chromatographic conditions for small and large molecules (such as peptides, oligonucleotides, bioconjugates, etc.)
- Carry out preparative purifications using HPLC, SFC, and other separation techniques
- Modification and design of laboratory equipment, use of automation and robotics
- Data interpretation, manuscript preparation, publication, and presentation of results
Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement:
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 3 years or less postdoctoral experience or met all the requirements for a PhD by May 2017.
Required Experience:
- Experience in HPLC and/or related chromatographic technology
- Basic knowledge in mass spectrometry
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Working knowledge of preparative HPLC/SFC chromatography
- Experience with analysis and purification of large molecules
- Thorough understanding of chromatographic and mass spectrometry theory
- Excellent mechanical skills in the laboratory
- Innovative, creative, industrious, and highly motivated
