Job Details

This post offers an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Lecturer or Reader in Medical Computing at the University of Sheffield. Hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STHFT), the role will combine academic and NHS-based knowledge, skills and expertise to develop and implement technological solutions to support the delivery of more effective and more efficient healthcare.

The role will have a non-exclusive focus, at a patient level, on mobile health and personalisation, and at a system-level, on the intelligent use of data in line with future health and care strategic plans. The Department of Computer Science is recognised nationally and internationally for its world-class research and excellence in teaching. In the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, we were ranked 5th out of 89 computer science departments in the UK. STHFT is one of the UK’s largest, busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. The successful candidate will work closely with the Medical Imaging and Medical Physics directorate of STHFT, which was rated ‘outstanding’ in a recent Care Quality Commission inspection. We welcome applications from scholars with an established track record in the research, development and transfer of innovative digital technology, with full involvement of stakeholders. Experience within the broad field of digital healthcare is desirable.

You will hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related area. As well as conducting research at the highest level and securing research income, you will develop and deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
