Applications are invited to apply for the role of Research Associate (experimental) Evaporative Drying of Droplets and the Formation of Microstructured and Functional Particles and Films in the School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol, U.K., to work under the supervision of Professor Jonathan Reid.

The position is supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council through funding from Future Formulation of Complex Products programme. The appointment will contribute to the large collaborative project entitled Evaporative Drying of Droplets and the Formation of Micro-structured and Functional Particles and Films, led by Prof. Colin Bain (University of Durham) and in collaboration with Dr. Andrew Bayley (University of Leeds) and a team that includes 14 industrial partner. The drying of liquid droplets is a complex process with a wealth of dynamics occurring within the liquid phase. The effect of these internal processes is to change the distribution of materials in the deposit that remains after drying. In this large collaborative project, we will explore the drying of isolated droplets, both in air or on a surface, ensembles of droplets in a spray drier, and composite droplets formed on coalescence.

Please note, this role is linked with ACAD102253 (link: As these two roles will be considered in conjunction. It is advised that you review both Job Descriptions as these differ and provide more specific detail.
