We are seeking applicants for an approximately 3 year fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Associate position to investigate the role of IL-1B in the development and progression of breast cancer bone metastasis in the research group of Dr Penelope Ottewell.

Experience in the use of advanced in vitro and in vivo cancer models, possession of a personal HO license and a proven academic track record are essential.

The successful applicant will join of a team of scientists responsible for carrying out high quality research in bone oncology using advanced model systems combined with novel imaging technology.

To carry out this project you will need to be proficient in genetic manipulation of cancer cells, in vitro and in vivo modelling of breast cancer bone metastasis and down stream analysis of bone architecture and tumour cells growing in a bone environment.

Applicants will need a good honours degree (or equivalent experience) and a PhD in a relevant biological subject.

Experience in in vivo biology techniques, cell and tissue culture techniques and microscopy including histomorphometry would be an advantage.

The post is funded by a New Investigator Research Grant from the MRC for a period of 3 years and is available from 2 January 2017.
