The position is located within the Office of Clinical Research Training and Medical Education (OCRTME), Clinical Center (CC) of the National Institutes of Health. The position supports the NIH Clinical Center's mission to train the next generation of biomedical researchers and clinician-scientists by providing superior clinical research training to individuals of varying educational levels and professional backgrounds. The Senior Clinical Pharmacologist will have a primary role in contributing to the professional growth and development of NIH physician-scientists and other allied health care professionals through a variety of training and educational initiatives. In addition, the incumbent will function in an advisory and consultative manner as a clinical pharmacologist in the NIH Clinical Center and will provide expert clinical pharmacology consultation to Institute and Center (IC) clinical investigators who require the expertise of a clinical pharmacologist in the development of new clinical trials and protocols, including trial design, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, and drug-drug interactions. The incumbent will also serve as a “Course Director” providing day-to-day leadership of the NIH “Principles of Clinical Pharmacology” course as well as other NIH clinical pharmacology and clinical research educational initiatives. In this leadership position, the incumbent will also enhance existing and develop new clinical research training and medical education initiatives as well as continue training partnership collaborations with the Food and Drug Administration. There also may be potential opportunities to collaborate with researchers in other Institutes and Centers.
