Silicon Photonics
We are seeking an experienced and motivated senior post-doctoral researcher in the field of silicon photonics to work across EPSRC and industry funded projects on the design, fabrication, integration and characterisation of a range of high speed silicon photonic devices.
The post will be under the supervision of Prof. G. T. Reed and other investigators. The successful candidate will join a team of approximately 35 researchers focussing on the field of silicon photonics, based at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, UK.
The applicant should have a strong background in the design and simulation of active silicon photonic devices such as optical modulators. Experience is required in the use of photonic, electronic and process modelling packages preferably; SILVACO (ATLAS and ATHENA), Lumerical (MODE, FDTD and DEVICE), Agilent/Keysight ADS and Photon design. Experience in the use of mask layout software L-edit and MATLAB is also required. The applicant must also have a background in silicon photonic and RF electronic laboratory experimentation with critical evaluation and interpretation of data. Experience or knowledge in the fabrication of active silicon photonic devices would also be beneficial. It is expected that they will hold a PhD or equivalent qualification related to silicon photonics.
Salary will be up to £42,955, and the post will be for up to 3 years in duration.
