A Research Technician is required to provide technical support for a research project within the Virology laboratories in the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine on a British Council / Newton funded project entitled ‘Point of Care Molecular Detection and Serotyping of Dengue Virus’. Much of the work will involve the propagation and quantitation of dengue virus, a biosafety level 3 pathogen with the aim of optimising novel diagnostic methods. Tasks will include; assisting the research team in maintaining tissue culture as well as preparing and analysing samples for virological, cell and molecular biology studies. The post-holder will also be expected to support the training of post-graduate and undergraduate project students.
