The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences

The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences includes the professional disciplines of Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Pathology.  Undergraduate programs are available in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology with graduate entry programs available in all disciplines.  Students gain supervised professional experience as part of their academic program and graduates are ready for immediate entry to their profession on completion of their degree.  Each of the undergraduate degree programs is of four years' duration and includes both preclinical and clinical study offered in an integrated way.  All of our programs place considerable emphasis on problem solving and diagnostic decision-making and students are guided in the processes of systematic and holistic assessment and the selection and effective implementation of management approaches.  Each discipline prepares students to operate within the health, education and related systems and to contribute meaningfully to teams.  There is an emphasis on interprofessional education and research in the school.

All disciplines within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences are active in research and are making significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge in their professions. The School offers Research Higher Degree programs in all disciplines.

The University of Queensland Health and Rehabilitation Clinics (Clinics) of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences have a longstanding reputation for providing allied health services in its work-integrated learning environment. The Clinics offers Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Pathology services to adult and paediatric populations. Our clinics incorporate holistic and interprofessional patient-centered care with well established administrative support.

Located on the University of Queensland's St Lucia campus, you will work in a stimulating environment with an international reputation for innovative approaches to teaching, clinical and research excellence. 

This role is instrumental in the development of the next generation of Physiotherapy practitioners and will offer you the opportunity to provide leadership and direction in clinical education. The role is supported by experienced clinicians and clinical educators and offers opportunities for training in clinical practice and education.

The role

The role of Clinical Educator - Physiotherapy is responsible for facilitating the translation of Physiotherapy theory to practice with groups and individual students in clinical practice. The position will collaborate with the clinical and academic team to grow and develop our adult neurological, aging and balance services. The position will balance client needs with student learning and will have currency of clinical practice.

The person

Applicants must possess a degree in Physiotherapy with subsequent relevant experience and demonstrate recent clinical professional practice. Experience in clinical education is desirable.  Applicants are required to hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Board of Physiotherapy, hold a current First Aid/CPR certificate and possess/be eligible for a Medicare provider number.

Applicants are required to demonstrate readiness as a practitioner and experience as an educator to meet the needs of our large multi-disciplinary facility.  The ideal applicant will have the capacity to facilitate the provision of services in a broad range of clinical environments. A working knowledge of clinical education issues and an enthusiasm for teaching are essential.

Remuneration

This is a part time (0.6 FTE), fixed term appointment for 2 years at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $79,498 to $86,950 p.a. FTE, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $93,013 to $101,732 p.a. FTE).
