The Department of Student Counselling and Development of the Durban University of Technology (Midlands Centre) is seeking to appoint one (10 Counselling Psychologist

The Psychologist will be required to offer the following services, and experience in these areas would be a distinct advantage:

  • Psychotherapy and counselling concerning personal, social, emotional and career development
  • Individual and group counselling
  • Crises intervention
  • Liaising between the Student Counselling department, academic departments and other support services as well as outside referral agencies
  • Conducting research in areas relevant to the development of students and the Counselling Centre
  • Psychometric assessment

 

Minimum requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology
  • Registration as a Counselling Psychologist with the HPCSA for a minimum of three (3) years
  • Psycho Educational training and development
  • Valid driver’s licence

 

Additional recommendations

  • Computer literacy(MS Word/PowerPoint)
  • Experience of working with students in a higher education context
  • Experience in the supervision of intern psychologists
  • . Proactive, confident person and a team player
