Head of Department (5 years) and Permanent Professorship & Professor of Law
The Liverpool Law School aims to be at the forefront of legal research and education. The Department has a strong research ethos and prides itself on its supportive and collegiate environment. It is also committed to innovative teaching and learning strategies, which enable students to benefit from both traditional and modern approaches and technologies, in order to help them acquire knowledge and develop key skills within a stimulating and positive learning environment.
The School of Law and Social Justice now seeks to make two appointments to Liverpool Law School, both at Professorial-level. One will be a permanent Professor of Law, and the other will be a permanent Professor of Law, with 5-year Head of Department responsibilities. Both appointees will have a world-leading research profile, including experience of securing competitive grant funding, will regularly publish in high-impact law journals, will have a desire to mentor junior colleagues, and an ability to provide innovative and engaging teaching.
The Head of Liverpool Law School will additionally be expected to demonstrate an ability and desire to act as a strategic leader for the Department, including the articulation of their strategic vision for the Department, the development of Liverpool Law School through direct and collegial engagement with colleagues, and the oversight of departmental-level administrations, including implementing departmental research and education plans, and developing appropriate structures to lead a growing body of academic colleagues.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 16th November 2016.
Applications will then be considered by the Selection Committee. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to visit the Campus on Wednesday 8th February 2017, during which time they will be invited to give a presentation, meet with a range of Faculty members, and observe the Campus facilities. Formal interviews for both roles will take place the following day, on Thursday 9th February 2017, at which point selection of the preferred candidates will take place.
