Job Details
A postdoctoral research position is available in Leeds, funded by Syngenta UK Ltd, to study the structure and interactions of enzymes in the isoprenoid biosynthesis pathway with herbicidal and non-herbicidal candidate inhibitors. The project will combine experimental protein biochemistry, protein NMR and biophysics techniques.
You will be based in the laboratory of Prof Alex Breeze in the Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology at the University of Leeds, and will also collaborate with industrial partners based at Syngenta’s Jealotts Hill, UK, research site. Exceptional facilities are available in Leeds to support the project, including a new, 950 MHz cryoprobe-equipped NMR spectrometer and state-of-the-art biophysics infrastructure.
You will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in biomolecular NMR , and have evidence of a good publication track record or potential to achieve one. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in experimental protein biochemistry, protein NMR and biophysics techniques such as SPR or ITC, though experience in all is not essential an enthusiasm and aptitude to learn is.
Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Alex Breeze, tel +44 (0)113 343 0087, email a.l.breeze@leeds.ac.uk
