The Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland is the largest and most highly ranked science faculty in New Zealand. An exciting and new opportunity has become available in the Faculty of Science as a Research Equipment Co-ordinator. The role has been developed to support our academic researches through successful planning, ongoing management and effective utilisation of research equipment. The ideal candidate will possess;

  • A degree (preferably in Science or Engineering)
  • Experience working in research laboratories
  • Excellent understanding of the asset management cycle
  • Sound financial and operational management of a laboratory in a tertiary education context
  • Report writing and experience presenting to Steering Groups or Boards
  • Change management and/or project management experience


You will exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to successfully foster ongoing collaborations, in this case between our academic and technical stakeholders and to establish formal administrative and reporting systems.

An analytical ability to decipher statistical information and produce accurate and timely reports determining equipment usage and performance will be integral to your success in this role.

This is a two year fixed term position offering an excellent opportunity to work in a complex service delivery environment in a role focusing on the development of strong collegial relationships with individual and groups.
