The Food Health Programme within the University of Auckland is a cross-Faculty strategic initiative covering the Faculties of Science, Engineering, Business, and Medical and Health Sciences, the Liggins Institute, the University Research Office and UniServices.  It brings together over 200 leading researchers in food science, engineering, nutrition, medicine, sport and exercise science, public health, marketing, supply chain and economics with the aim to tackle real world challenges by drawing on specialist expertise in food science, process engineering, nutrition, health, social sciences, business and commercialization.

Due to internal movement, we are recruiting for a Food and Health Programme Manager. This is a key role supporting the Steering Committee and Management group to develop effective relationships and networks with researchers, other Universities and government agencies to enhance the sustainability of the programme and generate vital funding.  Although the main duties are administrative management and secretariat support for the Steering Committee, this role is also tasked with assisting the Management and Steering Group with identifying and promoting the development of public good research funding, coordinating seed funding calls  and coordinate research workshops, events and networking opportunities and engage with potential stakeholders on the benefit of the programme.

This position is a chance to work in an environment that plays a part in improving health outcomes, providing high quality university trained graduates to the food sector and enhancing innovation and growth in the NZ food and beverage sector.

The ideal candidate will have a diverse background including experience in food nutrition or health sciences/technologies with strong connections at senior government or food industry level.

We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic, understands how to manage the needs of internal and external stakeholders, enjoys working in a collaborative environment whilst being able to work fairly autonomously using influence to get things done.

This is a full time fixed term position until 19th February 2019.
