The Product Lifecycle and Manufacturing Engineering Leader will provide technical leadership for all Hopkinton operations-based engineering activities for the Diagnostics business. The position manages a diverse team of people skilled in the engineering and processing disciplines relevant to the technologies used in our component and instrument products, fostering an environment of creativity and job satisfaction. This position will work cross-functionally and interact globally with product planning, sales, service, operations, finance, business development, and marketing in support of new and existing products.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain processes necessary to react to production issues and drive support and sustaining engineering activities
  • Assist with fluid transitions of new product introductions (NPI) from R&D to manufacturing
  • Partner with R&D during product design to ensure products launch with the right Safety, Quality, Manufacturability, Serviceability and Cost deliverables
  • Direct, manage, and resource multiple concurrent continuous improvement, value engineering, and sourcing projects
  • Provide regular updates and reports on group productivity, activities, and progress towards strategic site and global objectives
  • Maintain group budgeting activities and participate in annual operations planning to develop engineering capabilities and ensure appropriate resources and technologies are planned
  • Ensure all engineering activities are in compliance with all quality and regulatory processes, as well as maintaining quick reaction time to qualify and drive solutions to quality notifications and CAPA activities
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending relevant workshops, reviewing pertinent professional publications, and participating in professional societies
  • Ensure staff are reaching full potential through coaching and mentoring; application of employee assessment programs to plan, monitor, and appraise performance
  • Perform administrative and oversight functions in approving group expenditures, enforcing policies, and HR activities
